Announcing Our First Live Event in Over a Year and more …

We are excited to announce our first live event in over a year will take place on May 15, 2021. The show features a fantastic lineup of some of the region’s best comedians.

This historic re-opening to live entertainment is not to be missed.

Come enjoy a night of laughs with the Comedy of Ellis Rodriguez, along with Robert Omoto, Carlos Rodriguez, Kiry Shabazz, and Kris Tinkle.

We are limiting tickets to allow for distancing and to comply with California’s indoor event guidelines.

We are also allowing the option for those that can’t come to donate directly to the comedians, who have been severely impacted by Covid due to venue closures.

Tickets for the show, or donations here:

FUNDRAISER: While we are excited to be reopened, we are doing so at a severely limited capacity. We will still need a lot of help to get us through to the end of the pandemic. For those that want to help, but can’t come in person, we have set up a donation page here:

MOVIES: We are putting new movies on sale regularly with 100 person capacity, until we move into yellow tier. We have heard that some people are not getting confirmation emails when they buy tickets, so while we figure that out, all we’ll need at the entrance is the name of the ticket purchaser. Opening for movies has allowed us to hire back three of our favorite employees on a part time basis and we look forward to bringing more on as opening continues. For those that have purchased movie tickets, we thank you.

VIRTUAL: We have several virtual concerts available on our website that you can view from the comforts of home.

POSTPONED SHOWS: Some good news. As vaccines have ramped up and case levels have shown signs of decreasing and stabilizing at low levels, some of our postponed shows have found new dates, and others will be confirmed in the weeks ahead, so be on the lookout through email for show information.

CANCELED SHOWS: We have had a few shows that decided not to postpone, and have canceled. The most recent being the David Crosby show. We are working through refunds and credits, but this will take time, so please be patient.

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

My grandmother, who taught first grade for over 35 years in Sacramento, got me a gift when I graduated high school. It was Dr. Suess’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go. I recently revisited that book after a year unlike any other and one there was no way of forecasting. Here is an update of where we’ve been and where we are going.

When we took over operations of the Crest in November 2019, there was no way of knowing what would happen next. We were in business for 4 ½ months before being shut down due to Covid-19. Now, in the last 11 months, we have been open for 10 days, and in those 10 days, we were able to run at 10% capacity. Needless to say, this wasn’t part of the plan.

This has put a tremendous strain on our business as government help has been slow and inadequate. Through various grants, we have secured enough money to pay for roughly four months of expenses. We secured a loan that paid for a couple more. We used all our savings for a couple more.

We had to lay off all our staff, and my partner and I have both taken other jobs to help make it through to the end of the Covid lockdowns. We hope to start generating enough revenue in the spring to start bringing employees back as we slowly reopen with suppressed capacity. California’s tier system will continue to be in place for several more months, perhaps through the end of 2021.

We are doing everything we can to be in a position to reopen when the time comes, but we still have a long ways to go, and we can’t do it without you.

What can you do to help?

You can order a mask here:

All the money raised through these avenues help to pay for rent, utilities, and other bills we need to pay to keep our licenses current.

We have rescheduled shows up to four times and many will be on the move again before they ultimately take place. Again, this is not the way we envisioned it, but we stay optimistic that part of 2021 and all of 2022 are tremendous as people look for entertainment they missed out on for more than a year.

If you have tickets to a show that was postponed indefinitely, please hang tight. We are working with artists, agents, and other venues to get those shows rescheduled and rerouted. Many artists are waiting on rescheduling until they have a better idea of what the summer and fall of 2021 might look like, and what venues will, or won’t, reopen before finalizing their dates. Once the show has a new confirmed date, we will email all ticket holders, and your tickets automatically transfer to the new date.

If you had tickets to a show that was canceled outright, please hang tight. We are still working to get to all of you. We have serviced over 30,000 customers, and are working to get to the rest of you.

Crest Sacramento Needs Your Help

The Crest Sacramento needs your help. This past week we were vandalized. Our security gate has been broken, and our front doors were shattered. We have also had some minor graffiti on the outside of the building. Your generous donations will assist with these repairs and some general maintenance that the Crest Sacramento desperately needs. We would typically be able to afford these unexpected expenditures but have been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
